UPDATE: console makeover

Hi, I'm Louise from the Netherlands and I write a daily lifestyle blog called 30s Magazine http://30smagazine.wordpress.com

MAKE OVER CONSOLE

MAKE OVER COFFEE TABLE AND COUCH

5 BEFORE pictures.

As you can see my bookcase is very cluttered with books and souvenirs I collected during my travels. This is my biggest challenge since I have too many books and don't know how to style it differently in my bookcase. I already threw away a lot of books to make space. What now???

My couch isn't very colourful because I still have my Christmas pillows on it: furry white ones. I usually change my pillow cases with the seasons.

I'm already quite content with my coffeetable and console so I hope to learn more in this course to make it even better.

8 Principles of interior design

The photo was taken from the British magazine Living Etc. Although the colour palette is dark, the red chair adds a pop of colour as do the botanicals and the patterned pillow. There are a lot of different shapes in this space: the round mirror, the square fire place and the modern shaped coffee table.

Texture and interest is created by the hide rug, and the trompe d'oeuill wallpaper but also by the glossy coffee table in sheer contrast to the rustic hide.

There are several functional elements like the oversized vase to hold fire place essentials, or the red chair you can draw closer when you have visitors. The stool near the fire place is a comfy place to sit and read by the fire.

A crystal chandelier adds bling and sophistication. In the back you can see a few collectibles grouped together.
