Tools of the trade for a broke 20 something y/o

I really enjoyed this class! This was my first skillshare class, but I'm happy with how things turned out.

I spent a lot of time deciding what I was going to illustrate. I ended up picking a guide to my fridge when I was 21, broke, and going to City College. I sketched out the scene using rough shapes, which was refreshing. Im so used to basing my illustrations on perfect geometric shapes, so it's great to do something new.

I made 4 sketches for textures using old art supplies. I wanted to make a perfectly sloppy cursive writting for the beers and milk, and am happy with what came to be.

I've never created my own textures, and the Photoshop technique Tom described was pretty new to me, so it took me a little bit longer to arrange the textures than I was expecting. In all, I probabaly spent about 12hrs on this.

Original sketch + vector of fridge scene. Does not include the scripting.

Here's the final textureized illustration. Happy to learn new techniques and create something cool.
