Always learning

Time to understand nutrition and re-build my body.

My primary goal is to reduce my body fat % to 10%, by my 44th birthday this August. That works out at roughly 2% per month.  Wish me luck.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to exercise as often as I would have liked since starting this course.  Working double shifts and suffering with a debilitating case of man flu really puts a dampener on all things physical.  However, my work shifts will be back to normal by the end of this week and I think I've killed off my man flu with a dangerously hot chilli, so no more excuses; I start my exercise routine this Saturday.

On a more positive note, I have made a lot of changes to my diet based on the information learned from this course and the articles posted on Lyle's website.  I've adjusted my Protein/Carb/Fat calorie levels to better match the weight I should be.  I'm slowly changing my carb based foods from fruits to vegetables; I'm trying to stick to low GI foods where possible.  I'm also keeping a food diary to help me maintain these changes.

The biggest change has been the addition of a slow cooker to my kitchen.  On Sunday night I fill my slow cooker with healthy ingredients, set the timer and in the morning I have all the food I need for my meals at work.  So, instead of eating out of the vending machines at work I can now eat healthy home made meals.

With just these changes to my diet I have already lost 4lb and my energy levels are increasing.  If I keep this up I can see my goal becoming a reality.

Good luck all and I hope your efforts have all been as positive as mine.
