Time Out of Mind

  • Questioner-5 (but by the slimmest of margines over Rebel-4 and Obliger-4)
  • I have been having mixed success over the past few years forming solid new habits.  I have also been trying to implement a GTD system over the past year with mixed results. I would like to get firm control over my production and time.
  • It might sound simple and stupid, but Brushing My Teeth is the habit I have formed of which I feel most proud.  It isn't that I never brushed my teeth before a made a habit of it.  However, about 5 years ago, I committed to doing it at least 3 times a day and I now do it instinctively almost every time I am in the bathroom at home.

Keystone Habit:  Leave my house an hour before work.

I have been perpetually late my entire life.  Both of my parents are always late.  My brother and my sister are even later than I am.  I have tried unsuccessfully to change my lateness throughout my life and I am determined now to do it.  I recently started my dream job just a 15 minute drive from my house and I have been late every day of these first 2 months.  I fear that my lateness will eventually cost me this job that I love.  I hope that, when I succeed at being on time (or early) for work, this will lead to me being on time for other things, help me manage my time better overall and reduce my stress levels.
