I've always loved the symbols, colors, and deep cultural significance of Mexican art: whether its in the politically intense time of Rivera and Kahlo, or in the codices of the Mayans and Aztecs.

I'll be taking some symbols and colors from some of my favorite pieces and using them throughout this course to build a small series.

I started off sampling colors to work with from a painting by David Alfaro Siquieros - For the Complete Safety of All Mexicans at Work:

I also took some symbols from a couple of pieces by Diego Rivera, which use Pre-Columbian visuals.

And here's the first result, using a combination of the color pool class and layout class for a few different svg shapes:

After getting the hang of the grid layout, I went on to make a few more iterations:
