This Coastal Life

I have several projects that I'm working on with this class. This is just one of them. It's my family blog that I'm working on setting up to share pictures and updates with family and friends who don't live nearby. My other projects include an update to my jewelry business, my running/fitness blog, and my professional user experience website/portfolio/brand identity (but I don't plan to upload those here).

CREATIVE BRIEF

Background

This is my personal blog that I plan to launch to chronicle my family’s journey. In addition to our four fur kids, we’re adding a human kid (a little boy!) to the family this June. Rather than post all of our adventures and pictures on Facebook, I plan to post to a private blog that family and friends can access to keep up with us. Since we live several states away from our immediate family and we have friends scattered all over the country, this blog will be a good way to stay connected. We live at the beach in Charleston, South Carolina, thus the name “This Coastal Life" (found at www.thiscoastallife.net)

Objective

To create a logo and establish an identity for my blog.

Target audience

My family and friends. I will likely only keep this as a private blog, so the audience is limited. It will also serve as a journal for me.

Message

Follow my family and me as we navigate life with a newborn in coastal South Carolina.

Competition

Any other blogs the audience reads, which really could be a large pool. However, this blog is just as much for me as it is for family and friends. I’m not trying to grow it or monetize it, so I’m not overly concerned with competition.

Distiguishing characteristics

It’s the only place I’ll post a lot of our family pictures, so if you’re a friend or family member and want to keep up with us, you’ll read the blog.
