Things from my summer vacation

Shortly after starting my daily drawing practice, my husband and I took a summer vacation in the California Redwoods. We stayed at a cabin and I used my drawing practice as a way to create a visual journal of our experience.

As I made the drawings, I was aware of how taking a few minutes to record some elements of the trip would help keep those memories with me and it made me feel really grateful for taking this class!

Adding a little note to each drawing is key for me because I love giving things context. It's something that hadn't occurred to me before Kate talked about it.

Some objects have color, which I added either with watercolor or India ink wash.
