The first birds of spring

-------------------- NEW PROJECT - SPRING CHALLENGE --------------------

My spring pattern is called "The first birds of spring". I can't wait for spring to come!

MOODBOARD

This time I found my inspiration in my home. My favourite mug, trousers, tulips and perfect pastel color palette, which I just love.

------------- DECEMBER WORKSHOP - TRIBAL ADVENTURE ---------------

It was really hard to decide what theme I should choose for this class. For some time I've had on my mind some tribal ideas, native motives, arrows, teepees and something like this.

Step 1

I love warm colours of this theme. I'd like to design a pattern, which would be perfect to use in baby nursery, teenage room but also in home interior decorations, clothes etc. Maybe cute, but not childish. Complex but with clean forms. Nature, teepees, maybe some bears versus simple triangles and arrows. I have scraps of whole collection in my head ;) We'll see if I can manage something with this ideas...

Step 2

I made some sketches for my project. As I mentioned before, my main theme is tribal, indian style. But I don't want it to be just some triangles, lines and simple shapes. I want to tell some story with this pattern. I want it to be nice, warm and cheerful. So beside all these shapes and flowers appears my indian bear ;) He has a friend - fox, but I'm not sure if I use them both, we'll see :)

I'm digitalizing it in inkPad right now. I can't wait to start working on final steps and see where it all goes... :)

Step 3

Hi guys! I'm digitizing my sketches :) Meet my new friends - Teddy bear, Foxy the fox and Wolf, just Wolf :D Wolf wasn't planned at first, it came to my mind just tonight and stayed with us ;)

I have a quite nice progress, this workshop makes me stay motivated, finally!

I had a few dilemmas on my way. E.g. if I should stick to straight lines, like in triangles and tribal shapes, or maybe make everything imperfect, more sketchy style. Finally I decided to stay with straight lines in geometrical shapes and surround it with more soft elements, leaves, feathers and animals.

I also started to compose my pattern. I always have to see how my elements play together. I change everything all the time, reorganize, move around, it looks like this right now:

There are still blank spaces to fill :) I'm trying to match all elements, draw some new if needed.
If you have any advice at this point, if you see something I don't see, please let me know. Especially you, Elizabeth :D

This pattern is so vibrant and colorful, just as I wanted, I'm happy with it :D I'm making version with dark background now, to have a strong contrast. But later I'm going to make also lighter version with beige background or something.

Step 4: Final project

Finally, I finished my project! :) It's so hard to say "ok, it's done". There's always something to modify, move, scale... But for now that's it! :)
