I'm by no means a professional, but I've dabbled in design for a while and typography really interests me. Most of the quotes I thought of were super long, but I've tried to keep it short so that I can really work on making this work.
This is a quote from one of my favorite shows of all time, Pushing Daisies. I like it because it's not an obvious reference, plus it applies to my everyday life as a chemist.
Initial sketch, on a whiteboard (easy to change small things, not great for the thicker letters). This was to give me a sense of placement and size of the different letters.

Moving to a grid:

I just eyeballed all of the angles, so I should probably be more exact in the next iteration. I'm also not happy with the 'h' in these — I'm not really sure how to draw the ascender so that the h can be proportional to the rest of the letters.
I'm also still playing around with all the swirly bits — I like the look of them, but figuring out the placement is hard for me.
