The Way to Get Started is to Quit Talking and Begin Doing

"The Way to Get Started is to Quit Talking and Begin Doing"  - Walt Disney

is my quote..... I know this is more words than I wish to write but this is my favorite quote and decided to go with it. Keep all the words in the right place will be challenging!

I still think I can make this better... I might come back to this piece and work on it but for now, I think I am done....

1) Brain storming - Writing down the words. Getting a great desin idea after writing the words on the paper ;-)

2) Inspirations - This process was so much fun and I got into to internet maze. Spent hours and hours to find great resources and inspirations. I love vintage or retro typography, ads, packages and posters.

3) Practice -  I haven't done hand lettering years.... I spent few weeks and a lot of papers to get used to it. Just start writing letters and ideas.

4) Thumbnails - I knew that I want to have a Cinderella Castle and a ribbon.

  1. First idea is a "it's a small world's boat" at the bottom.
  2. Secound one is the pumpkin carriage.
  3. The last one is a mirror and hi-heel on staircase.

5) Rough Sketch - Once I decided to go with idea 3, I wanted to layout on the paper.

5) Detail sketch - I used a US letter size print paper but after star drawing, I realized that I need to draw this on a 11x17 size since my drawing needs more hight than width.

Concers and findings:

  1. Change the leading. (11x17 paper will have more space verticaly)
  2. Staircase rail needs to be re-draw.
  3. Finalized the typography
  4. "is to" shape looks a bit off....

5) Detail sketch Part 2 -  After getting a great feedback, I sketched again. This time I gave enough air. I think I am ready for next step!?
