I had one of these nifty little Moleskine watercolour albums sitting around. The blank pages were daunting and I was a little afraid to begin using it. I haven't used watercolour much before, and I prefer graphite and brush and ink. But here goes!!
I enjoyed playing around with wet on wet for these leaves.
And liked using washes for background colour. I am finding I need to to a couple of pieces to relax and get into the flow, as you can see by my wobbly pen work!
I found the watercolour paint too difficult to control, and the colour too flat around these small motives, so I tried an ink brushpen for this one! But that's the object of the exercise, right?
I work as a graphic designer and illustrator, but client work usually takes up my time and I rarely experiment with new mediums and techniques. So I have set myself up a quiet little corner, away from the computer and daily grind to disappear into. I want to continue to work on my sketchbook each day/ couple of days and see what I come up with!!
