I thought long and hard about this project. I narrowed it down to three books: Aesops Fables, The Secret Garden, and Chronicles of Narnia. I thought of great ideas for all three and will use all three books as I complete the classes in this lettering/book cover workshop. The main prompts I thought of for The Secret Garden were:

Francis, Burnett, Key, Gate, Wall, fox, bird, vines, hidden, keyhole, swing, trees, flowers.

I realized that while I needed to incorporate only 1 letter of the Authors name that a key could easily help me incorporate the F and B, so that's what I did. I went through a few renditions and even drew it more "realistic", but ultimately decided on a more folk artsy rendition.  I used a lot of the design knowledge I learned from taking folk art drawing classes here on Skillshare and loved the simple color scheme from Jessicas "W" Drop Cap book. I think it turned out great for my first Drop Cap EVER! I hope you all like it.
