The Red Teepee

The Red Teepee - student project

Suprise Version:

Dakota and his father Etu trudge up a small hill plated with flat grey rocks with yellow grass are woven in between. Returning from a day of fishing in the cold hypothermic stream meters below, they enter camp with bounds of plentiful salmon in hand. Greeted by their loving tribe they make their way inside their Teepee. Slipping through the slit of the teepee Dakota and Etu lay the large crimson salmon down on a handcrafted wood top for preparation.

Reaching to the back of his pants Etu removes his bone knife from its sheath and holds it at both ends. He grips the handle with his right hand and stabilizes the fish with his left. Starting at the anus of the fish he cuts right up to the bottom of its lip in one smooth sweep. Etu proceeds to reach into the fish pulling out its guts. He looks at Dakota and hands him the blood-soaked bone knife. Etu replaces his fish with a new one and nods at Dakota to take his turn.

Dakota proceeds to place the blood-soaked knife upon the anus of the crimson salmon. Pulling the knife up to the salmons bottom lip fish guts start poking out the belly of the fish. Placing the knife down Dakota looks at Etu, he nods again and Dakota slowly slips his hands into the dead fish. Gripping the guts he pulls, and pulls, and pulls until they come loose flying out of the fish covering him in fish guts. All bloody he looks up at his father who couldn't help but grin. They both burst into laughter. Bullets start ripping through the tent like a swarm of angry bees, horses and trumpets are heard outsides, followed by screaming and gunfire. Bullets continue to shred the teepee with both Dakota and Etu inside. The gunfire stops. The shredded Teepee begins to well up in crimson red from both sides.

Suspense Version:

Dakota and his father Etu trudge up a small hill plated with flat grey rocks with yellow grass are woven in between. Returning from a day of fishing in the cold hypothermic stream meters below, they enter camp with bounds of plentiful salmon in hand. Greeted by their loving tribe they make their way inside their Teepee. Far off into the nearby forest, an army of fifty horsemen trudges through the trees and mud searching for native settlements. They smell smoke wafting in from the west.  Slipping through the slit of the teepee Dakota and Etu lay the large crimson salmon down on a handcrafted wood top for preparation.

The horsemen turn west and follow the scent of smoke to the edge of the forest. Reaching to the back of his pants Etu removes his bone knife from its sheath and holds it at both ends. He grips the handle with his right hand and stabilizes the fish with his left. The Horsemen arrive at the edge of the forest, from the back emerges a captain in a dark blue cloak, sporting golden badges. He pulls out his gold plated binoculars spotting tuffs of smoke coming from a nearby hill, he shifts his gaze right and spots a stream, he indicates for his men to follow. Etu proceeds to reach into the fish pulling out its guts. He looks at Dakota and hands him the blood-soaked bone knife. Etu replaces his fish with a new one and nods at Dakota to take his turn.

The Captain and Horsemen replenish themselves from the stream, The Captain spots footsteps trailing up the stream. He rounds up his men, following the footsteps upstream. The Captain and Horsemen arrive at the bottom of the hill, they're looking up at the camp. They all ready their rifles aiming them uphill, The Captain signals for the trumpet and they charge forward. Bullets start ripping through the tent like a swarm of angry bees, horses and trumpets are heard outsides, followed by screaming and gunfire. Bullets continue to shred the teepee with both Dakota and Etu inside. The Horsemen rain fire upon the small camp causing havoc in every sector. The Captain raises his fist calling "Seise Fire!". The camp falls quiet. The Captain stares at the wilting red Teepee with Salmon splayed out the side.
