The Mangaka's Story

The Mangaka's Story - student project

Hello there! I'm Platyadmirer, but you're welcome to call me Platy or Rachel.

Lets see, I finally got a twitter account around Christmas of 2015. A friend has asked me to paint him some panels for twitch and lo and behold he was amazed that I could actually paint so to speak xD He was expecting something amateur I suppose but man he got fired up to start me on twitch after that. He also shared with me that I should use twitter to increase my followers on twitch. It seemed like fun and it was very nice to have someone who knew the ropes to help me out. So I tried it. If all else failed, it would just be a fun silly little thing to do and I'd humor him.

Time went by a bit. My friend was great at sending people my way for graphic commissions and I've had a lot of fun doing that, but I was still not sure exactly what I wanted to do on twitter. I liked graphics and it was certainly interesting to communicate with so many people and see expectations vary, and I was very happy to say that everyone who received art from me was overjoyed at my ability to paint and loved the art. However, I realized that while I was good and like making graphics, my heart yearned for manga and illustration. So, I decided to make a manga ^^

As of now I still do a few commissions here and there, but I'm very happy making manga and illustrations. On twitter I've been able to find people who have similar interests as me, watch them on twitch and discord, find mangas and stories to read, and earn a bit of money here and there. It's been a blast! On twitter I promote my art and find others to fangirl about and hope that maybe one day, I can work as an artist making manga and illlustrations as a career. Not sure how that will happen, but I sure can't wait until I figure out how. For now, I know that using twitter is a step in the right direction.

If anyone is interested, I post my manga to webtoons and tapastic

And here's a few illustrations I've done ^^ I'm still working on building a portfolio, but I've got a few made.
