The Lumineers

UPDATE 1 – Early Vectoring:

Starting to get things in order on the computer. Decided to add a hand holding the suitcase and took out the old ones. The biggest struggle still remains not having this look like every other suitase poster

Here is where I currently stand (colors still are up in the air):

Background/Early Research

I've been blessed to have shared the stage with the fine folks in the Lumineers. Ironically enough, a good friend of mine was their also tour manager just as they were starting to make some noise in the music scene. I've been lucky enough to have had multiple conversations with the band about their music, inspiration and life.

The Lumineers are old souls. They wear suspenders and brimmed hats, play vintage equipment and stomp their feet on stage. The are cordial and polite. This whole persona transports listeners (and viewers) to another time, a time where music was pure and beautiful.

These ideas have fueled the inspiration for this poster.

Concept 1: Suitcase.

The Lumis have been on the road non-stop for the past two years. Their life and current home is the road. Each city brings in a new experience, a new memory. The common image in travel is, of course, the suitcase.

I plan on utilizing the stickers on the suitcase to bring in various themes from their songs.

Concept 2: Flapper Girl.

I keep hearing a common theme in their music: classy, beautiful girls – sometimes a love song, sometimes a heartbreak song. I chose to focus this concept on the beauty of the flapper girl.
