I'm the other half of the newly formed design duo, Designs from the Attic with Jordan Presnick. (Apparently there is no way to tag other students in the class in a post!). He posted our project so far and gave an explanation already, so I'll keep it short.
We were most intrigued by correllations across variables, especially the socio-economic conditions of a state in relation to the cost of damage of the hurricane. Not really seeing a clear way to link up the data given on hurricanes with something like state census data, we decided to have a look at what states can't seem to get a break -- the states that get it not by the monsters, but by lots of little guys.
I'm not sure what other layers of data we'll add going forward, but the attached image is where we're at so far.
