Description:

On this assignment, I wanted show what I’ve learned from Aaron Draplin’s inspiring course. I narrowed my focus on recreating the major elements shown in the demonstration.

The eyeglasses represent the majority of my family members who wears it. When creating the eyeglasses, I thought it was going to be complicated. But then I remembered how Aaron always starts with a simple shape. So, I followed his mantra by starting out with a rectangle and then refining it. Thanks to this course, I felt more confident in using the Pathfinder panel in Adobe Illustrator.

My family has a history of moving to new places, sometimes across continents. Thus the sea waves below the banner symbolize our journey. Beware of the Mumu is a family joke that vaguely reference to an American sitcom Married... with Children. I chose a muted color palette to reflect my mother’s collection of vintage memorabilia.
