The Golden Hour at White Sands, NM

My brother visited me in December and we took advantage of his vacation to do a short roadtrip in New Mexico.  The highlight for me was at the end of our first day, when we stopped in White Sands National Monument, an often-overlooked gem here in NM.

We parked and then had time to climb over some of the gypsum dunes, which look like a lot like sand or snow, depending on where you look :)

For these shots I used my canon SLR and 15-85mm lens.

After more walking around on the dunes, it got quite dark.  The dunes were still breathtaking at dusk though, so we both snapped some more shots.

I hope to go back soon and try sledding on the dunes :)
