I'm only happy when I'm making

The Abundant Life | WORKSHOP

I finally settled on these two colorways. This top one feels like fall to me. I'm still trying to wrap my head around all possibilities with the recolor artwork options, but thanks to Bonnie, I got it enough to fix the ghost shapes :)

This one is my favorite. I'm super excited about it! I feel like the combination of crazy busy art with gentle colors is a good representation of what I'm going for with 'The Abundant Life.'

This is my life. Everyday. I realize this isn't from nature, but I was having trouble choosing themes and as I looked through the other moodboards and started noticing all the different words that were being shared 'abundant' started to resonate with me. I have a very full life. An abundance of kiddos [5] and craziness. We read books in abundance. Do homework in abundance [though, when we need one most pencils seem do be less than abundant]. Have shoes, orphan socks, PB & J sandwiches, laundry, and dirty dishes in abundance. We have happiness and tears in abundance. Sometimes, we have fights and yelling in abundance. Mostly, we have love in abundance.

I know a few of these can be cleaned up a little more, but I'm on the fence about using them, so I'll put the time in if/when I decided they're staying. I also have a few more sketches that I could work in here, but as of yet, I'm not sure which directing this is going. So... Here are some digitized sketches.

Well, I got one done. Mostly. The bottom one is my fave, but I can't figure out how to change the super light ghostly shapes without changing other stuff. Not to mention, I love the light on some of the stuff. Like the pencils. I really love the washed out pencils. I don't even know what color I'd make them if I did know how to change them! So question... Is the barely there stuff super annoying or is it a nice rest for the eyes? Or am I really lame and the bottom one isn't the better one? Go ahead and tell me... I can take it ;)

Mmm. Strawberries. I'm sure nothing tastes better than sun ripened strawberries, straight from the vine. Strawberry jam, strawberry lemonade, strawberry shortcake, strawberry salad... A summer bursting with strawberries!

I've noticed my tendency to fill my patterns up with multiple motifs [possibly too many] and wanted to try to simplify things a little by chosing only one focal image. I fear this may severely limit my collection ideas, but I feel like it needs to be done. I want to try this out with some watercolor.

Very preliminary, and I'm still working on more, but I wanted to share and hopefully get some feedback. I'm really liking the look of the strawberries... The sketchy tops and filled bodies. I wondered if you all feel like it works as well.

That's all I have for now. I'm still trying to narrow down the third idea. Maybe I'll skip it entirely. We'll see. Thanks for looking!
