Here's an example of what types of things to post on your project board:

RESEARCH PHASE

Target Magazine:  Highlights for Children

why did I choose this magazine:  They use several puzzles in each issue and the style of the magazine matches my style.

Analyze Your Target Magazine:

- age range 6 - 12

-no email submissions

-puzzles that don't require writing

- gender neutral

-style is bright and cheery

Know Your Audience:

-age range 6-12 basically elementary school, narrow down to 8-10 so fourth grade

-studying in school graphs, maps, electricity, earthquakes, early presidents

-likes sports, movies, holidays, animals, vehicles

DESIGN PHASE

Theme:  Cars

Reward: Punny Riddle

What's the funniest automobile? A cartoon

What is a racecar drivers favorite TV show? Cartoons

What type of tv show requires a speed limit? Cartoons

Mechanic:

-needs to fit one word answer

- real world objects - license plates, traffic lights, stop signs, car radio

-traffic light - 3 colors red, yellow, green, only 1 lights at a time, conveys information and instructions

traditional mechanic - letter pool with indicator, word search (can't use requires writing!), letter shift, letter connectors

Ideas for mechanics:

-works well with single word answer

-use all of the letters by the green light, none by the red, and some of the yellow

-encourages writing, won't work for Highlights
