Take That Fork

I chose the phrase "When you come to a fork in the road, take it" by Yogi Berra. My dad loves to quote Yogi and I find this phrase both inspiration and hilarious.

Brainstorming:

My jumping off point was definitely the imagery in the phrase itself, and also some general ideas that Yogi Berra brought up for me. After doing some online research, I realized that a lot of people were already portraying this phrase with an image of a fork literally in the road, so I decided to hold off on that specific idea.

I was inspired by the idea of old-school baseball, traveling by car when it was still a new thing and an adventure, and being outdoors.

Moodboard:

Wow, it took me way too long to get back to this project! In thinking about it some more, I realized I focused on very image-heavy ideas, rather than on any particular lettering style or ideas. I created another complementary ideas board, this time focusing on lettering techniques -- mostly inspired by old-school roadtrips and service stations.
