I want to live a lifestyle where healthy eating and exercise are just another thing I do everyday. I dont want a stressfull trend diet or some brutal workout schedule to reach a goal. All it does is cause anxiety and adds to my low self esteem. I set a goal this year to do whatever it takes to build healthy habits and part of that goal was taking it slow and really, really being honest with myself about what I can and can not do. I got my first smartphone for Christmas and downloaded the fitocracy app and when I heard about this class I thought it was totally in line with what I was trying to achieve. Then, just the other day, I was asked to join a team and participate in Tough Mudder. I decided that it's a sign and everything is coming together, so here I am.
More specific goals for myself are:
to eat a healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday. I am really, really bad about breakfast and lunch and I know it dooms my physical fitness goals.
to stop being afraid of upper body workouts- I can run for miles and do squats til the cows come home, but I think that chest soreness is the most horrible soreness ever. When I've tried to work out and lift weights before, I always gave up when the initially chest soreness started, so, you know, I gave up right away.
My third goal is to get through the Tough Mudder this year. I still can't believe I signed up for it, but someone asked me to join their team, and I felt like having a concrete date that I had to get my butt in gear by would be beneficial.
