Sweet Tooth City : My Snack Guide to Downtown New York City

Admittedly, I have quite the sweet tooth.

Whether it's a craving for mini-doughnuts or spicy caramel hot chocolate, you'll usually be able to find me taking a bite of something sweet when I am out and about in downtown New York City.  My snack attack hits mostly on the weekends when I feel like I've deserved it after a long crazy week.   I usually prefer something quick and tasty but also worth the detour especially when I am on the go.

This project gives me the perfect opportunity to map out some of my favorite sweet snack joints. Here, I'll cover mainly the downtown New York City area, although the rest of NYC has so many amazing sweet-tooth offerings as well.  I mainly focused on ones I know best, which are clustered in certain downtown neighborhoods that I frequent.

  • Why am I making this map? For fun, it would be interesting to see my fave sweet stops in a map format
  • Why am I the expert to create this map? This map is designed just for my palette!
  • Who is my target audience? Anyone interested in quick sweet snacks in downtown NYC
  • Do I want my final project to be printed or digital? How is going to be used/held? What other constraints do I need to keep in mind moving forward? I'd like for it to be digital, but I may have some challenges making a digital map, since I wouldn't know how to design one digitally.
  • What level of detail do I need to include? Names of places, street names, and why it's my fave
  • Dear class, I need your help/expertise/guidance on....I'm not sure yet, but may come back to this question later!

Here is my hand drawn map!  It's a little difficult to view, so I included the close ups below.  I'm not quite done with the legend which includes longer explanations, but will include that soon.

Thanks for stopping by!
