My name is Neelam Kaur, I started my career as Surface Pattern Design (Apparels, Paper Stationary, Greetings, Hand Lettering).

Before I start with My Mind Dump and other Project tasks, I would like to share the story behind Surface Nest. My love nature and prints makes the story - Surface Nest. Surface as in can be Fabrics, Paper etc, and Nest as in where I as a Bird can come and relax, be happy, and can enjoy the fun quirky surface patterns.

STORY BEHIND SURFACE NEST:

I love Nature and am so drawn to anything that is colourful, that connects me with my inner self. I wish I were a bird and would have hopped from once place to another; hence I came up with this Business Name, Surface Nest, a Bird who wishes her Nest to be Colorful, Beautiful, Fun and the Surfaces that I can adorn with my Artwork.

However I would love to use my own name on the Website as well, still keep my Brand Name Surface Nest.

  • Nature Lover (Almost every designer draws inspiration from Nature and if we do not protect our Nature we would not be able to be inspired).
  • Nature is Fun, Fresh and so much of Variety be it Flowers, Patterns, I think my imagination comes to life when I interact with Nature (early morning, when I hear the birds chirping, a morning walk where I see squirrels, birds, leaves, seasonal changes). It just makes me smile and I feel relaxed and can spend hours sketching.

 I WANT MY LOGO TO REFLECT MY BRAND AND PERSONALITY:

  • As the name says SURFACE NEST, I want to use a BIRD and a NEST and craft a STORY as in I am the Bird, who loves to Nest in the World of Prints and Patterns.
  • I also feel this resonates well with my Brand Ethos to an extent as I am so much drawn to Nature for Inspiration, and also gives my design style idea to the viewer.
