Summer Bliss

Hello All! I am super excited about this course. I having been using AI for many years and there always seems to be so much more to learn. THANK YOU Bonnie for this course. It is so well organized and easy to follow.

So here goes my assignment. I live in NY and this winter has been brutal. So summer is something that I am dreaming of.

MOOD BOARD: I was inspired by summer flowers, fuschias, lavender and bleeding hearts, as well as herbs such as thyme and rosemary. I chose the flowers because of their shapes and graphic style.

COLOR SWATCHES: Unlike the bold color of the flowers I was inspired by, my color palette is softer and fresher. I love pastels and I think this color palette will work well with my sketches.

SKETCHES: I sketched in pencill and then traced with MICRON pens. I love how the fuschias look like dancing ladies once I sketched them! I am a doodler at heart so this part always comes naturally to me. Digitizing this will be another story. I am used to drawing my images directly in illustrator, so this is definitely outside my comfort zone.

I digitized my sketches and began coloring

And then.... I think I lost my mind!! The EDIT COLORS tool may the death of me! I spent hours coloring and recoloring. So much fun I could not stop.

And lastly, I did a quick mock up of what my Summer Bliss pattern would look like on my coffee shop packaging, for the cafe that I own in my imaginary world

This course / process was so much fun! THANK YOU so much Bonnie for sharing your brilliance! Can't wait for the 2.0 course.
