Exercise 1: fine your inspiration

So much possibilities but i narrowed it down to these 4:

Style project by Lies - image 4 - student projectI loved this exercise because it helped me look more focused and question myself why i exactly like certain illustrations. Overlooking my 4 sources of inspiration, i found these similarities:

  • playfulness: not overthinking every line. Don’t really know how to say it, but in my own work i miss some spontaneity.
  • use of traditional and soft textures: less vectors and more pixels? 

Exercise 2: self-inventory 

Side note: i mostly make illustrations for people, more specific: birth announcements... so, not much similarities in my drawings and certainly none with my sources of inspiration.

Tom Froese, fingers crossed i’m allowing myself to go completely wild on my final project in this course :)...

What is something small or spontaneous that brings a smile upon your face? Could still use something for the letter ‘e’ and ‘i’.
