Strategic Web Copywriting - website & content plan

Hello all!

I'm creating a new blog for myself as a space to share my ideas and attract some freelance copywriting work. It's daunting, but I'm finding the process exciting and liberating. This is my side hustle, so I'm starting slow and focusing on getting things right with my business and work/life balance, rather than pursuing any lofty goals just yet. (The design is still a work in progress too.)

So far, my brand statement looks like this:

AlyssaMartin.me is a positive, warm and welcoming blog focused on providing content about writing and communication to women entrepreneurs, micro-businesses and side-hustlers so that we can build stronger businesses, find our voice and confidently share our talents with the world.

Why am I doing this?

  • to create a positive, supportive environment for women entrepreneurs to build their confidence, find their voice and learn how to write web copy that embraces their uniquity
  • to meet and work with likeminded people who are building values-based businesses that make a difference
  • to build a reputation as a go-to person for writing and web copy with personality.

By putting in the effort to create quality content on a regular basis, I plan to:

  • have my work published in three well-known blogs within the first twelve months
  • build an audience and attract 50 subscribers within the first twelve months
  • use my blog to attract 12 clients within the first twelve months.

Update 17/12/13...

Content pillars:

  • scripts, how to's and tips
  • stories and real life experiences eg. case studies of clients,
  • interviews of creative business women that I admire.

Source library:

  • IFTTT - I've set up an alert so that everytime I favourite something on Twitter, it goes to a specific Evernote library.
  • Stumbleupon
  • Hootsuite

Channels:

  • Twitter - trying to identify a hashtag that would suit my work / brand (and isn't already being used)
  • Pinterest - I also intend to create branded boards to collate content from my own blog and others that fit into my content pillars.
  • Google+ - must get better at this!
  • Buffer
