Storytelling with Color

Color can be a powerful tool for anyone seeking to evoke a particular emotion in their audience. Whether you are creating a dramatic conflict sequence or painting a quiet lakeside morning, color can completely change the way your scene is perceived.

In this class I will be leading students through methods of pushing emotion and narrative with color choices. We will cover the basics of the color wheel, what certain color choices can convey, and all the different ways a particular scene can be told with color.

The project for students at the end of this class will be at least two colored versions of the same sketch- one version with "true" colors (natural light/vividness) and at least one version of the same sketch but with different color choices- hopefully in a way that narrates the scene of the student's illustration.
