Steven Universe Quote

(Warning: I feel like this isn't as coherent as I'd like it to be, but I think you'll get the gist.)

At the risk of being a little TMI, I've been in a really bad rut lately. I've been without a full-time job for a little over a year now, and it's eating at me. Spiraling is pretty commonplace for me because I can't seem to find a job that I want and I feel like I need to contribute more. For the longest time, I've debated on whether to get into design because I've always messed around with it and I enjoy it. I did so much in high school, but I never knew that graphic design was something you could take up in college and learn. I kinda regret it.

Anyway, due to a really inspiring talk from a couple friends, I've decided to really pursue it and learn. One of my biggest hangups to overcome is my gnawing need for things to be perfect. Despite my degree in Creative Writing, I haven't written a story since my senior thesis. Despite being so passionate for music in the past, I haven't written a song since high school. Sometimes, it just felt that the idea in my head was a lot better (read: perfect) than really committing it into reality with all its flaws, if that makes sense.

I decided on this quote because (1) I love Steven Universe and (2) it's a great reminder. I'm never going to get better if I don't start, I'm never going to learn if I never doNot everything has to be perfect, and that's ok. Plus, hot dogs are still pretty great.

I came up with this first. The more I thought about it, the more I really wanted to work on the porkchop image more.
