Stay Safe!

Stay Safe! - student project

I have been working with the phrase: 'stay safe' as it's a really relevant message right now

My inspiration was taken from Chromeography. I collected a few bits of inspiration to work from

I took a lot of influence from the Mayfair type; I like how it was simple and it kind of gave me a 60s feel with the was that it was thick and curly. I also was interested by the shape of the Y and  the F and I wanted to incorporate it into my project

I started off with this pencil drawing and I added the anchor points in on photoshop, this was after a few traces. I couldn't go out to get any tracing paper I was using my window as a light board and printer paper, so if I'm honest I didn't do as many traces as I probably should have!

When I had finished on illustrator, something didn't look quite right so I decided to stack the words and I think it looks a lot better! I also experimented with a few different colour compositions shown below

I chose to keep this design simple and bold; I experimented with adding some noise to these, but I felt that it mushed the colours together too much and I was happy with the way they were working together originally

Thanks for taking the time to read this! If you're interested in seeing more of the work that I'm making please check out @miranda.illustration on instagram
