St. Laura

St. Laura - student project

So I found out that besides the laurel from ancient Greece, the name Laura was later popularized because of St. Laura, a catholic nun who lived in the 9th century in Muslim dominant Spain. She was martyred by Muslims who took her captive and scalded her to death by placing her in a vat of boiling pitch. I found that to be a way stronger image than something with Greek inspiration so I went that way.

The initial sketch was way more ambitious, because i'm not really good at designing background, especially painting them. (btw, this is how it looked at the beginning because I used a phone scanning app which worked pretty good)

In the end I lost a lot of the elements and kept only what was really important in telling the story, even though I feel like it got sort of a witchy vibe, so i'd like some feedback on that.Clearly the font was inspired by Dylan but I thought it worked out well here.
