Squiggles and eventual mushrooms

Squiggles and eventual mushrooms - student project

I have always promised myself to learn to use watercolours, but it seems that watercolours just work sometimes and sometimes it looks like a kindergartener's painting. It's tough to let go of the inner critic, even though they're sometimes right.

I tried out a couple of flowers, but they somehow did not work AT ALL for me. Dylan makes it look so effortless and flowing, but I ended up painting circles instead of closed flower cups. I eventually drew something I enjoyed the look of - a little moss bush/plant-y thing.

I genuinely struggle with drawing from examples mainly due to the fact that I doubt my ability to draw it and my endless pit of perfectionism. So, while I am very tempted to post a photo that I tried to replicate in watercolur, I won't. Because, in theory, it shouldn't matter. Paintings deserve to be just that.

Thank you, Dylan :)
