Squarespace 101: A Beginners Guide to Building a Standout Website

Milestone 1: Start your Class Draft

  • Completed 3/1/16!

Milestone 2: Class Topic and Project

I've decided to join the Skillshare community as a teacher and share my process of creating a standout website using Squarespace. Squarespace is incredibly user friendly, but there are lots of tricks to making your site standout from the crowd.

Class Description: Having a website that professionally communicates your brand, product, or services is essential in today's digital world. Whether you are sharing your creative portfolio, building an online store, or need an informational website to advertise your business, with Squarespace you can develop a standout website (no coding necessary!). In this class, we'll go step by step to create your new website. From selecting the right template, to customizing the look and feel of your site, and setting up a shop or blog, we'll cover the essentials you need to get going.

Class Project: Seven Days to a Standout Website

ASSIGNMENT

In this project, you will be given actional steps leading you to the creation of your website in seven (7!) days. The final deliverable will be a website of at least three pages (home page, about page, and service/product page), and optional blog and/or cover page.

DELIVERABLE

Use the project workspace to share your work and get feedback from the Skillshare community.

Upload:

  • One or two sentences describing the purpose for your website (e.g. as a online shop for your handmade business).
  • What template you selected and why
  • Screen shots of your home page, about page, and service/product page (please include iterations of your website if you started off with one template/design and decided to make changes later- the more you share, the more we all can learn!)

Milestone 3:  Outline

I've started my class outline! Hoping to complete this week- exciting!
