Some cat patterns / color test

Some cat patterns / color test - student project

I've been just getting into PoD and I'm starting to learn the basics of pattern making. I've wanted to make some cat patterns for a while now but I feel like it's been done a ton and I don't know yet how to diversify myself in between all those different artists out there :'D

I've tried the approach where I went on pinterest to look for a color scene that looked interesting and this is the picture that I choseSome cat patterns / color test - image 1 - student project
Then since I wasn't sure what I wanted I tried some different cats in watercolors, trying to keep them simpler than I normally paint. I kept the cats in the pink-dark blue scene to make them look unified, this way I can use them either separately or together in patterns

I want to make a pattern ultimately where I use multiple of these designs together but I'm not sure how I want to approach it yet... so I started with taking the cat in the left corner to make a simpler pattern

I'm quite happy with the result and I think it looks really great on the wrapping paper option on society6! I also made a "dark version" although that one is a little bit less to my liking...

Any feedback would be more than welcome! I also was wondering how many times you guys re-purpose your illustrations. Do you make a 100% new pattern each time or do you make new combinations of already painted components often?
