My typical fan is between 40 ad 60, and in a relationship or married. They are hobbyist or DIY musicians themselves, and we enjoy communicating and collaborating together. I have collaborated long distance with several of my fans (LA, Houston and UK).

As Amber has noted, most fan clusters start locally. Most of my Twitter followers are in Seattle, although I also have a cluster on the East Coast of the US, and a cluster in the UK.

Now that I've analyzed my fans, I am going to take a look at where Alanis Morrissette's fans hang out .

Brandi Carlile's demographic is very similar - her fans also hang out on Facebook, but also note they are on This tells me I should probably get my music up on if I have not already, because that is where my fans are. Brandi's most recent release was in mid-October, when the big fan spike occurred.

I am using this information to plan a marketing campaign that will focus on Facebook and also perhaps include looking at a UK tour, probably House Concerts, since many of my Twitter followers are in the UK. I am very interested in researching further the cross-over popularity of US bands in the UK, and vice versa.

This is just the beginning for me of exploring some of the great tools highlighted in this class, and I am looking forward to doing more research.
