So Many Interests, So Many Opportunities, So Much Life...Yet So Little Time

It was my 30th Birthday...

And at that point, I'm sure I should've refreshed my second language to fluency...perhaps even have been proficient in a third.

And I'm pretty sure that I should've had a strong grasp on marketing, business, and entrepreneurship (along side a myriad of other topics). In fact, I could've sworn I was supposed to have quit my current job in lieu of being a freelance copywriter...when I was still 29.

Come to think about it...

Why is it I look at my bookshelf only to feel like I'm fooling myself?

Maybe it's because of all the smooth spines. And what about the bookmarks lodged only about 1/16th of the way in from the front cover? What happened there?

Or maybe it's when I set my gaze on those few "accomplishments" I actually managed to swing through cover-to-cover...only to realize that I couldn't much write about, talk about, or walk the walk those books had to offer...

....despite hundreds upon hundreds of pages of reading and what I thought was proper note taking, highlighting, and reviewing...

And forget about the bookmarks I saved on Firefox. I don't even have a prayer there.

It's like you feel as if you can only get a little taste of everything...yet never the full meal. But nobody wants to live off of scraps. So how can someone eat a full entree almost as quickly as they ate the appetizer?

I want to be an effective learner so I have more than just the scraps...so I can have an even larger base of knowledge to work from and knowledge I can leverage for a better life. And just as or even more valuable - knowledge I can use to help somebody else.

With those cards on the table, these are the goals I'd like to accomplish by means of what this course has to offer:

    1) By June 19th, 2019, I will be able to read 800 words per minute with 80% or greater
       comprehension.

   2) By July 1st, 2019, I will be able to confidently read and finish 2 books per week with 80% or
       greater comprehension.

   3) By September 15th, 2019, I will have read the following books:

           -"Influence" by Robert Cialdini
-"My Life in Advertising/Scientific Advertising" by Claude Hopkins
-"Tested Advertising Methods" by John Caples
           -"Ask" by Ryan Levesque
           -"Choose" also by Ryan Levesque
-"Confessions of an Advertising Man" by David Ogilvy
-"Money: Master the Game" by Tony Robbins
-"The AdWeek Copywriting Handbook" by Joseph Sugarman

That being said, the ultimate goal is to exercise diligence with this course and stick to it. To remind myself that the aim is to become dangerously effective at learning and adapting. At both receiving and delivering. At performing now and then outperforming myself later. Period.

I wish the best for everyone else who's on this journey and may the benefits be reaped!
