SlyReply.com allows users to create and share sign up sheets with a group. SlyReply is used by businesses, universities, schools, churches, clubs, and many other organizations.
The Map
1. List all major “players” in the system (eg. a marketplace may have two major players: buyers & sellers)
Sign Up Sheet Authors - These people have the need to create a sign up sheet and share with a group of people. Typically these people are responsible for getting a group organized or lead the group.
Sign Up Sheet Responders - These people receive the sign up sheet invitation from the author and sign up for one or more items.
2. List out any selfish reasons why each player would need their contacts/friends to join the service
Sign Up Sheet Authors - These people create sign up sheets specifically to share with the contacts in their group. The group's participation (i.e. sign up for items) is often necessary for the group to function. There is an underlying need to have a sign up sheet in the first place and SlyReply is a tool to help faciliate the process. The selfish reason for authors to create & share is to save them time & hassle organizing the group instead of email, phone, etc. It also may help them look like a better leader to their group.
Sign Up Sheet Responders - The reason for them to share SlyReply with others is because it is easier and more convenient for them to sign up for a slot instead of a bunch of email. Recommending the site to their group leaders and peers also helps them look like an active group member that cares.
3. List out all things you could possibly charge each player for on the service.
Sign Up Sheet Authors - Can charge them for premium features:
Sign Up Sheet Responders - These are the "customers" of the sign up sheet author so there is no known opportunity to charge $ to this group. The goal is to convert the responders into authors that then create and share sign up sheets with another group.
4. For 2 and 3 above give a very short reason you think the player would be motivated to need their contact or pay for the service.
Sign Up Sheet Authors - These users need their contacts in order for the tool to work. The motivation to use is to save themselve a lot of time and hassle getting the group organized. Other motivations include positioning themselves as leader, etc. Paying for premium features, especially branding, will reinforce professionalism of the associated organization and the user themselves.
Sign Up Sheet Responders - These users will share with their group to appear as a contributor to the group and make life easier on themselves and others.
