Slice Cake Shoppe – Brand Identity

Introduction

Slice Cake Shoppe (my wife's side business) is a one-woman bakery, crafting boutique cakes and sweets for various occasions. I've created logos and a color palette prior to enrolling, but wanted to develop a proper brand identity. The long term goal is to help grow her business so that she can bake on a full-time basis.

Creative Brief

In the works…

Images were collected during the logo process, but never organized onto a mood board. These accurately represent the overall tone of Slice Cake Shoppe - a mixture of vintage, modern, and natural elements with a bit of her own playful character.

Although the color palette was another pre-determined element, I chose to explore tonal ranges. Having these at my disposal offers an effective variation for various mediums.

Above are chosen logo variations, as well as monochromatic options. I have also included the secondary logo to use in smaller areas, such as social media avatars.

My chosen typefaces are Brandon Grotesque (Medium and Regular) and PMN Caecilia (45 Light and 46 Light Italic). The combination of a geometric sans-serif with a slab serif offers a warm and friendly contrast. Brandon Grotesque is also used in the logo.

Creating the graphic language for Slice Cake Shoppe was a lot of fun. I began by illustrating utencil icons that could be used for various patterns. I also made couple more patterns that pull inspiration from the mood board.
