Sincerely Maz

Hi, I'm Maz. Nice to meet you.

I've been handlettering for few months now and when I came across this class I instantly acted on the tips Andrea discussed. Here is the first handlettering piece I did after watching Andrea's class.

Below is piece I did weeks ago using an aquabrush. Handlettering really varies depending what medium you use. Less control you have the harder it tends to be.

One tip Andrea pointed out was the use of tracing paper. I found this tip quite valuable because it allows you to edit the composition of your work. If you aren't happy with your work you can change it the slightest by tracing over your previous piece. This was very useful and I tried it on the following pieces. Brush pen used: pen very similar to Tombow.

Progress #1. 'Sometimes the wrong choices bring us to the right places'

I like to handletter quotes that mean something to me. This quote in particular hits me in the right spot because it makes me look back at the choices I have made. Whether right or wrong I see the changes that have happened purely because of them. It doesn't necessarily mean they were bad choices, as this quote reminds us but that sometimes we are brought to the right place and where we should be.

Progress #2. 'See today for what it is'

Today is today. Like yesterday was yesterday. And of course tomorrow will always be tomorrow. See today for what it is and how it should be, how you want it to be. Don't expect too much from it but make sure you maximise it.

Here is my progress for a piece i'm currently working on 29/07/15.

I also tried to experiment using watercolour in the block letters and i think it turned out pretty nice.

Another small project I worked on was something for World Elephant Day. I thought it would be a fun little project to practice my handlettering variations.

I thought I would try different typefaces or styles of handlettering to make it fun.
