Sea urchin gathering

On our holiday in Bali, we decided to avoid the usual touristic spots and opted for the quieter western part of the island.  During our day exploration, I had spotted this beach near Pekutatan and made it a point to come back in the late afternoon, as the setting sun would give a different feeling to the area, whilst the colours would soften after the harsh mid-day sun.

I walked around the rocky headland as the sun was setting and just watched people going about their different ways.  At first I wasn't sure what these women were gathering, so I got close and asked what they were doing.  With no English from their side and no Bahasa from mine, we managed to exchange a few greetings and they showed me their sea urchins they were collecting during the low tide.  They didn't mind me taking pictures of them, in fact they thought it was hilarious and eventually ignored me and continued on collecting the sea urchins before it got too dark.

The first picture gives an overall perspective of the rocky headland and beach as the sun was setting and everyone going about their daily evening routine during the low tide. In the second picture, this lovely lady was more than happy to have her picture taken and show off her sea urchins she'd just gathered.
