SchauminChanel's Creative Muse-Inspired Fashion Collection

STEP 1 DECONSTRUCT (FROM WORKBOOK)

MY LIMITING JUDGEMENTS ARE:

  • I am afraid that people will judge me by saying I am not "SKILLED" enough.
  • I am concerned that others will find my ideas a little too "OUT THERE", and not take me serious.
  • I am concerned that people will not support me for taking a leap of faith to do what I love.

MY WORRIES ARE:

  • I am worried that my Fashion Design ideas won't be accepted by most people.
  • I am worried that my limited "genuine" connections within the Fashion Industry will hinder my reach.
  • I am worried about the fact that most fashion designers starting off don't get paid well, and the financial consequences this will bring.

MY FEARS ARE:

  • I fear FAILURE in terms of reaching the end of the line, or point of no return in my career and being forced to work a "safe" or "predictable" job to be like everyone else.
  • I fear success to a degree, because I am used to striving hard for what I want, and do not know what fashion career success would feel like.
  • I fear that sometimes the first two aforementioned fears cause me to "GET IN MY OWN WAY", which is creating the results I DO NOT WANT.

STEP 2- REBUILDING PERSPECTIVES & IDENTIFYING VALUES (FROM WORKBOOK)

MY HEROES:

  1. BEYONCE- Because she is Beyonce, Duh! No seriously, She inspires me by illustrating what living your dream would look like, well minus the lights, convenient hair blowing wind, and custom costumes by Tom Ford of course! She has her alter ego that takes over, and that to me says she taps into her creative genius when she performs.
  2. MY MOM- My mom is one of my biggest hero, despite the fact that she drives me nuts at times (>_<) she is strong, nurturing, humanitarian, and believes strongly in faith of all things good. Her personal style is pretty cool too!
  3. DIANE VON FURSTENBERG- I seldom come across a fellow fashion lover who does not admire this designer. DVF exudes timelessness, creativity, and femininity with just enough edge to it. Her design philosphy someone reflects with my own: I think women should look soft at times, yet sexy and strong. Women are not delicate creatures to admire, we have a voice and power.

STEP 4- IMMERSION EXPERIENCE (VISUALIZATION & MOODBOARDS)

AT MY BEST

AT MY BEST I LOOK...

  • I look very happy, content, with my head held high.
  • Friends tend to notice a difference, and say I have a certain glow...Although I think that may be due to my highlighting bronzer, but I will still take that complement ;)
  • I guess I look more approachable at my best, because I tend to attract new people or friends better at that time.

AT MY BEST I THINK...

  • I Think that anything is possible, opportunities are boundless!
  • I think I am pretty awesome despite my quirks and flaws (**pats self on the back**)
  • I think about creative strategies and how to connect them to fashion, I just let the ideas flow freely from judgement.

AT MY BEST I FEEL....

  • I Feel empowered, which is the best feeling of all time.
  • I feel Excited about what life has to offer.
  • I feel engaged with the current moment.

MY MUSE STORY

If you were to sum my creative muse in one word, it would more than likely be ethereal. She is outerwordly, and to many seen as an timeless goddess. She illuminates the ground she walks on, and oozes femininity. She is a style chameleon, meaning she adapts with the spirit of the times, but few hints of nostalgic glamour can be seen throughout her fashionable evolution.

STEP 7 MY MUSE ARTIFACT- GANESHA (THE LORD OF SUCCESS)

3b1348e4

My Muse Artifact is a Ganesha Figurine I stumbled upon in Los Angeles, CA shortly after I relocated from Georgia. It was one lazy sunday afternoon when I decided to get off of my lovely couch, and get out to get some fresh air. I went to the Melrose trading post where you can buy antiques, vintage clothing, books, you name it. As I walked among the fellow bargain hunters and all-things-vintage-lovers I found myself drawn to this weird metaphysical table filled with beautiful stones in all shapes and sizes, and this figurine you see pictured above. Not satisfied with the price of this strange yet intriguing figurine, I decided to keep looking.

About an hour later, I found myself still thinking about this figurine. I rushed back in hopes it was still there, and luckily it was. I took it home, and decided to research its meaning, and I quickly realized that it was a weird twist of fate for me to find it. Lord Ganesha is Hindu deity in a human form but with the head of an elephant - represents the power of the Supreme Being that removes obstacles and ensures success in human endeavors. He is also worshipped as the god of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth. The principles in which Ganesha exists by align perfectly with my hopes and dreams in life. Whenever I begin a new project and feel as though I am not designing up to par, I look toward the corner of my desk and there is Lord Ganesha looking as if he is saying "You got this!"
