Save the Depot!

The Michigan Central Station is one of my most favorite Detroit structures. Built in 1913 in Detroit's historic Corktown neighborhood, the depot served as the main intercity passenger rail depot for the city until it closed in 1988. On April 7, 2009, the City of Detroit passed a resolution aimed at the demolition of the depot and this Skillshare project serves as a rally poster to "Save the Depot!". Numerous restoration project plans and ideas have been created, but none have gone further than the negotiation process. Until the future of the depot is decided, this beautiful gem remains standing as of today.

First Draft

It felt like something was missing, so I decided to add rays behind the depot as a sign of brighter days to come. I also moved the "Save the Depot" banner up to cover that sliver of blue space.

Final Image

While I look forward to utilizing blending modes and filters more, I really like the final poster result and believe the changes made give the poster a cleaner look.
