Sample Project

In this sample project I’m going to show you some alternatives of books that I created for this class.

I tried using different and perhaps unusual materials.

For your class project, try to use something that you really like or that represents you. It can be an illustration, a lettering, a pattern, a recycled material, a collage, a photo, postcards,…anything you want!

Just use the techniques that were taught and incorporate your art on the cover.

Simple Long-stitch binding

For this book, I used black washi tape to create a pattern on my cover.

I also made another book with a paper I love (with illustrations from Alice in Wonderland)

Japanese Binding

For this tutorial I made a soft cover book mixing color and pattern paper. I also used a fluorescent thread.

And I also made a hard cover book where I printed an illustration on kraft paper. I also used back vynil close to the spine.

This is an example of a book I made using a map from my map collection.

You can use these as a reference of what you can do, and what you can incorporate to your cover, but as comfortable as you want!

Have fun binding and share your creations! :)
