I started with the pattern I created for Bonnie's SPD01 class and have been working with pieces of this pattern and another one that I've been working on for another class.
I have a collection of four patterns I like so far, and I'm still working on the other two. Five are pictured here but the secondary pattern (yellow background) doesn't quite work, so I'm going to keep working on something that is similar yet different to the hero pattern.
I'm digging the funky retro color combinations, so I'm going to keep working in this direction. I tend to gravitate towards bold colors and prints when choosing fabrics, and I see this collection on fabrics. I'll need to tweak the colors in the end, but I like what I've got going here for the most part.
I'm taking another pattern collection class to get as many perspectives as possible, and here are my edits to this collection based on the feedback I got in that class and on information I gathered from a fabric design book. The blue on the bottom right is just a placeholder for my next pattern, which will be a blender pattern in either blue or orange. I'm thinking of adding two additional patterns (secondary and supporting) as well.
I took a break from this collection for a bit, but decided to finish it. I ended up with three color stories (I added a retro color story after my initial 2 stories).
Midsommar Color Story
I am probably going to keep adjusting the colors on "Garden Party" in this color story because they aren't quite working (looking at the purple/yellow pansy specifically).
Lilac Color Story
This color story could use a more exciting name...
Retro Color Story
I want to keep tweaking this one as it LOOKS like it's a super limited palette, but there are really 20 colors in there. I am done messing with it for now but could revisit sometime in the future.
The bouquet on black is my FAVORITE in this entire series!
I also somehow forgot to put the butterflies on the swatch catalog pages, so I'll reconfigure to add those as I edit my catalog design. (These are screencaps from a first attempt at a catalog page.)
