SPACE CATS 4th major update

Final edit:  Thanks for the support!! You guys are all amazing and better artists than me!!  Keep up with whatever glitch work I'm up to at http://nate-donato.tumblr.com/tagged/glitch

Note:  There are a lot of largeish gifs embedded here, it may take a second for them all to fully load and animate smoothly.

BABBY SEE YOU

I posed on my blog that I'd glitch my friends and one of them responded!  Audacity databends and other fun tweaks, I tried to stick to greyscale for the first time on this one and I think it turned out cool:

Next time you're in SF take a ride on the magic school bus (data imports from sample.avi and sample2.avi included with windows 7 opened as a 32 bit raw file in photoshop, slightly distorted)

Here's an ubuntu iso that I opened as a huge huge 8 bit raw file and animated a slice scrolling from one side to the other:

Here are a few photos of my friends that I tried to databend in audacity just enough for interesting results but still preserve some of the readability of the original images:

Here's some datamashups I did.  First I took a screencap of Keiko Awaji from the kurosawa movie Stray Dog (野良犬), then I used my phone to take a picture of the screencap to introduce a little noise and distortion, then mashed it in audacity with some photos of san francisco I took (not very recognizeable in the end results).  FInally I saved it with two different compression settings and I just can't decide which I like more, I actually ended up really liking the juxtaposition of the two because with their different file sizes one inevitably loads faster than the other and they get slightly out of sync most of the time.

Here's another mashup gif, this time with a little extra wave distortion thrown in.  My face + more pictures of SF (one of which I scraped from google).  I love the mashup technique, it's easy to do almost automatically and gets really neat results!
