Hi Yasmina! And hi everyone!

I'm so happy to be sharing this painting with all of you. This class came in the PERFECT moment for me. Here's why...

A little bit of context: I'm Ariana Iacono, I'm 26 years old and a visual artist from Patagonia Argentina, AND the 16th of March I'll have the opening of my new exhibition of watercolor paintings in Buenos Aires (that's the capital of my country, it's 1200 kilometres away from where I live). This is kind of a big deal for me and it will be the first time that I'll be showing my work in the BIG city. And it's actually my second exhibition ever! It all happened so fast haha.

All the paintings in this exhibition are kind of monochromatic watercolors. I say "kind of" because I use a tone of grey in all of them, breaking the monochrome feel and adding more contrast. And they are all portraits! That's what I do, I love painting faces :D

So this painting is all Red! I don't know exactly how, but I started to see elements of nature in all of the paintings I was making... So when the moment of sketching this one came, I thought of crystals! And suddenly I receive a mail of Skillshare, written by Yasmina, sharing the good news of this wonderfull class.. PERFECT TIMING! I didn't hesitate and took the class immediately.

It was so clear and precise, it worked perfectly for what I needed.I'm so grateful for that :D

So here's what I created :D

First the sketch:

And the final painting. As you can see I toned down the shadows since they look so dark in the sketch.

It measures 50 x 70 cm (19,6 x 27,5 in) and I painted it with Sennelier watercolors on 300 grm/140 lb Fabriano watercolor paper.

I hope you all like it, now I'm looking forward to try the other styles and types of crystals, stones and gems. And I also want to try gouache! I need to get my hands on some of those colors, I'm kinda obssesed with it now! I started reserching more after this class and they are really interesting! I think they could be a good complement to watercolors.

Hugs and kisses! Thanks Yasmina, keep the good skillsharing coming! <3

Ariana.

PS: As I upload this images I notice that the quality is very poor. As soon as I can take professional photos of these pieces I'll add them to this post. Sorry for that!
