Round Top Texas

Oiginally was going to go for the Antique Fair Theme at Round Top as they have 2 gigantic antique fairs  twice a year.  Next one coming up Sept 25th - Oct. 3rd.  But as I started a mood board for the little town (that goes from 90 population to 150,00 dury fair time!!!) I thought "hmmm, the the town is more than just the fair."

So I went with a more inclusive theme.  It's in Texas (lone star state) has many acres of pasture for cattle, and the state flower is the bluebonnet that blossoms in abundance all over Round Top.  There is a fort in Round Top built by Colonel Moore in 1828 to protect the settlers from the Comanche. It still stands today.

The area was originally settled by the Townsend family and that was the town's original name.  But it was changed later to Round Top after the postmasters house. Since his house was so recognizable with it's octagonal cupola, the stage coach drivers would yell out "Round Top" when they arrived at that stop.  Believe it or not :)

So....I took some of these ideas and built my design around them.  Can you find the longhorns?

I enjoyed the challenge to make something in an unusual format and learning new ways to add texture.
