Round #2 to bring in the New Year....Maple Poppies...
Well, if maple leafs and poppies had babies, then maybe that's what my project has turned into -- Maple Poppies. I really tried to follow Anna's guidance (and keep white space between the petals)....but my brush had different plans. So, rather than fight it.....I kept going :).....was a lot of fun painting this today. 5 more hours to go and it's 2021 - FINALLY !
Trying out the different inking techniques that Anna teaches in her lessons. Used Sennelier shelac inks for all my projects. I LOVE them !! The leaves & foliage are prints from our fall yard and Christmas tree branches. Tried sticking with a limited colour palette....although it is tempting to use every colour of ink :)
Then I tried using a palette knife and messed around with some blues....used a knitting needle to etch the trees.....I didn't spend a lot of time on this....can you tell.....
And, next I watched the Poppies lesson several times and made several attempts at rolling my brush. Not as beautiful as Anna's flowers, but the overall composition is OK. Used more branches from our Christmas for foliage.
and, even if your orginal isn't as pretty as you would like....because you're layering with the inks, things clean up better in a photo editor. I tweaked a bit in Photoshop Express......and was able to bring out a bit more colour.
