Rhodo - student project

These are a few sketches I have been working on for my creative design small business named Rhodo. The name comes from my favorite color: Red. On a trip to The Denver Museum of Nature & Science I discovered my favorite mineral: Rhodochrosite. I fell in love with its shades of red and pink instantly. I later found out that Rhodo means rose or red color in Greek. Red and its various shades give me a lot of positive energy and that is why I wear my iconic red coat. I still missplace the H in Rhodo while writing and drawing the type, but hopefully my brain will get it straight soon!

I have looked at some illustrations for inspiration and used the methods learned by watching the videos on how to manipulate type to arange the type aroud shapes to create the following sketch.

I will be working on more funky type sketches  to have a variety and improve my type skills since this is a type focused class.

So... before this class I did not know that one could turn shapes into outlines and this is what happened at 1:43am:
