Resume Redesign 2014, 2017

STARTING POINT 2014

This is where I am starting from.  I'm using Scala and Avenir LT Std fonts.  Initally, I'm thinking that there may be too much going on font wise, with different weights and sizes and italics.  I'm also thinking that the block style paragraphs for each experience description may not be the best format for easy and quick reading.

Iteration #1

I shifted around the name and contact information.  I liked getting the content to all be justified in the column, though may be a bit forced and unrelated to anything else going on in the document.  I reordered the content to have more recent work at the top.  The original resume has a left column with 'design related outcome' and is a remenant from when I didn't have any experience in the field yet, and wanted to relate unrelated experience to design.  I moved that content to the descriptions instead.  Then I moved the dates over to that left column, still holding on to that structure yet.  I tried bullets to organize the descriptions.

Iteration #2

I added more white space between the contact information and the resume content.  I tried to be more succinct with the content body (descriptions).

Iteration #3

Tried name and contact info on the top right side of the page.

Iteration #4

Moved the contact info back to the left side of the page, now placed at the top.

Iteration #5

Wanted to push the content below the name and contact info.  Tried to list skills at the bottom left page, but did not like that arrangement.  Moved the dates from the left column to be after the job title, but thought it isn't as easy to read or as clear.

Iteration #6

Condensed content even more to fit the skills section back in.  Like this a lot better so far.  Also dropped Scala font and a few older, not as related, job experiences.  I made the margins bigger as well.

Iteration #7

A grey background to try and anchor the name.

Iteration #8

Vertical name and contact info.

So far, I think that the vertical name is what I like best.  It feels less stiff than the others.

Iteration #9

A little safe, all centered on page with a horiztonal name.

UPDATE 2017

I moved internationally and am looking for new work abroad.  I needed to revisit my resume to format it to A4 (instead of US Letter) and to make more space to add more experience and a summary.  Here is where I'm at now:
